The expression “Ryanair is the worst of the worst” is considered freedom of expression

The Supreme Court of Spain has dismissed the appeal filed by Ryanair against FACUA-Consumidores en Acción (consumer association) for damaging its right to honour for the public statements made by the association such as its “millionaire fraud”, “teases its passengers” and “mocks” them. Moreover, it accused the airline of being “the worst of the worst” and nominated it for “the worst company of the year” awards.

The Supreme Court considers that freedom of expression of the consumer association should  prevail over Ryanair´s right to honour, as an essential asset for the free public opinion, a matter of essences within the political pluralism required by democratic principles.
