{"id":3238,"date":"2023-11-08T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-07T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.abrilabogados.com\/noticias\/platform-ebsi-elsa\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T21:30:20","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T19:30:20","slug":"platform-ebsi-elsa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.abrilabogados.com\/en\/noticias\/platform-ebsi-elsa\/","title":{"rendered":"Platform EBSI-ELSA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2519 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abrilabogados.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/EUIPO.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"179\" height=\"49\" \/>Yesterday, November 7, the Webinar arranged by the EUIPO to announce the <strong>platform EBSI-ELSA<\/strong>, on which the Office has being working.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative developed by the EUIPO tends to improve the fight against counterfeiting that affects not only the rights holders, but also the economy of a country and, of course, the final consumer\u2019s interests and health (even), which is expected for 2024.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>No more and no less, 33% of European consumers doubt about the authenticity of the products they buy online, according to information collected by the EUIPO. This shows that the problem persists, far from being solved.<\/p>\n<p>It will be based on blockchain technology (<strong><em>E<\/em><\/strong><em>uropean <strong>B<\/strong>lockchain <strong>S<\/strong>ervice <strong>I<\/strong>nfrastructure -EBSI-<\/em>) and aims to improve the monitoring of the products, from when they leave the production plants until they arrive at the consumer&#8217;s home (<strong><em>E<\/em><\/strong><em>uropean product and <strong>L<\/strong>ogistic and <strong>S<\/strong>upply Chain <strong>A<\/strong>uthenticator -ELSA-)<\/em>, by creating a virtual equivalent product that would be sealed with an unalterable digital signature of the right holder and whose authenticity will be supported by the app of the EUIPO<em>.<\/em> The idea ultimately aspires to be able to validate the authenticity of the product by all the parties involved in the process, using a \u201cTrust Registry\u201d, which it depends on the EUIPO.<\/p>\n<p>Along with the use of said technology, it is also intended to establish an interconnection system between all affected parties (non-existent today because each agent uses their own independent system), whether they are rights holders, logistics operators, customs authorities, etc.<\/p>\n<p>We are, therefore, facing an ambitious project supported by the EUIPO which aims to take a big step towards ending counterfeits, by using the latest technologies for identifying unique elements, the effectiveness of which has already been proven in sectors such as of NFTs.<\/p>\n<p>Fernando Ortega<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, November 7, the Webinar arranged by the EUIPO to announce the platform EBSI-ELSA, on which the Office has being working.
