While Regulation 2024\/1689 of the European Parliament and Council, dated June 13, 2024, is scheduled to come into effect on August 1, it will be implemented progressively, with a standard application period of 24 months from its entry into force \u2013 August 2, 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">This regulation not only stands as a global pioneer in AI regulation owing to its expansive scope on this field, but it also aims to establish itself as a benchmark on a global scale in this sphere.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">With this legislation, and as we previously informed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abrilabogados.com\/en\/the-european-union-approves-the-long-awaited-artificial-intelligence-regulation\/\">here<\/a>, the EU aims to safeguard the fundamental rights of its citizens and enhance security in AI systems, without hindering technological development, investment or innovation in AI.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; On July 12, 2024, following extensive negotiations for its approval last March, the Regulation on Artificial Intelligence was formally published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
