It was <strong>the year with the highest number of applications<\/strong> for registration in the entire historical series <strong>for national trademarks and trade names<\/strong> combined (national trademark applications grew by 5.1% with respect to the previous year and trade names by 2.1%).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Regarding inventions, the increase, for the second consecutive year of European patent validations filed in Spain (+12.7%) is noteworthy. However, national patents, after the upturn in 2023, fell by 10.9%. This is mainly due to the fall in PCT patents in the national phase, as national patent applications are up 2.2% compared to last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The percentage of registrations amounts to 54% for national patents and 86% for utility models, trademarks and trade names.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">In terms of disputes, the number of appeals fell by 11.7%, while applications for invalidity and revocation remained at the same level as in 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The <strong>EUIPO<\/strong> also publishes its statistics, which show a slight increase in the number of European trademark applications (from 175.711 applications in 2023 to 180.447 in 2024).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The number of oppositions filed before the EUIPO remains fairly stable in 2024, reaching 18.069 oppositions (up from 18.421 in 2023).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">In 2024, there is an increase in the number of Community design applications, from 98.518 in 2023 to 105.354 in 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Given all these figures and the comparison with the previous year, can we conclude that the industrial property sector is in good health?
