The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office – OEPM has published recently the statistics of applications filed in Spain within 2023. The numbers show that applications for industrial property rights have increased in their most relevant modalities.
Regarding the number of national patent applications, including PCT entries in the Spanish national phase, were 1456, which represents an increase of 10.5% compared to 2022.
Regarding designs applications, there has been a large increase in the total number of designs, rising to a total of 14573 designs, which represents an increase of 33.4% compared to 2022.
Finally, a total of 48773 national trademark applications and 15124 trade-name applications have been filed throughout 2023, which represents an increase of 7.8% in the number of national trademarks, and an increase of 21,5% in the number of trade-name applications compared to 2022.
