Rubén began his professional career at Abril Abogados in 2009 and has extensive experience in Intellectual Property, demonstrating deep knowledge and practical expertise in Copyright, both in contractual and litigation matters. He has also developed his expertise in Marketing and Advertising, Regulatory Law, and product labelling, advising clients in these areas, as well as in Media and Technology practice.

He has broad experience advising clients on global copyright protection strategies, corporate reputation, and campaign assessment. In addition to being part of the Entertainment Law department, he contributes to the development of the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) practice through the preparation of reports on Industrial Property, Advertising, and Marketing, as well as other matters related to new technologies, bringing practical expertise to each case. He also collaborates with the litigation team and regularly contributes to publications related to Intellectual Property, Marketing, and Advertising. He lectures in specialised master’s programmes and has been recognised as a “Copyright Star 2025” in the IP STARS ranking by Managing IP.

Education and professional background

He is a qualified lawyer, holding a Law degree from the University of Salamanca (2007) and a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property from Carlos III University of Madrid. He is a member of the Madrid Bar Association and is also a member of ALADDA and ENATIC.
