Ignacio has extensive experience in both Industrial Property and Intellectual Property, fields he combines daily with precision and confidence. He has deep expertise in both the prosecution and litigation of patents and trademarks, as well as in contractual and contentious matters relating to New Technologies and Copyright, the subject of his doctoral thesis. He is a regular speaker at specialised forums and master’s programmes, and the author of numerous national and international publications and articles in these areas. Ignacio is also a member of several professional associations and committees (INTA, ECTA, MARQUES, etc.) and has been recognised as one of the leading lawyers in Spain in these fields by publications such as Chambers (Tier 2), Legal 500, WTR, and Best Lawyers. In 2011, he received the “40 under 40” award from Iberian Lawyer.

He is the author of the monograph “Plagiarism in Copyright Law” (Aranzadi-Civitas, 2015).

Education and professional background

He obtained his PhD in 2015 and his Law degree from the University of Valladolid in 1995, with further studies in Commercial Law at the University of Linz (Austria). He holds a Diploma in IT Law from UNED and a Diploma of Advanced Studies from ICADE. He has been a member of the Madrid Bar Association since 1996, is a registered Industrial Property Agent, and an authorised representative before the European Patent Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). He was an Associate Professor in the Department of Private Law at Carlos III University of Madrid (2001–2005) and is currently an Adjunct Professor of Civil Law at Comillas Pontifical University (ICADE).
