El 1 de diciembre pasado entró en vigor el “Patent Prosecution Highway” (PPH) entre Brasil y la Oficina de Patentes Europeas (EPO). Este programa, permite a los solicitantes de patentes pedir el examen acelerado en cualquiera de las oficinas que participan en el proyecto, si su solicitud contiene reivindicaciones que se han determinado patentables. El programa será efectivo en Brasil por 2 años en los que la Oficina Brasileña realizará el examen expeditivo de unas 300 patentes. Se estima que las patentes químicas y tecnológicas aplicadas a la medicina, excepto las farmacéuticas, serán las más beneficiadas.
