Only those inventions which are new, involve an inventive step and have industrial applicability will be patentable as utility models. It is important to analyze in detail each invention well before proceeding with its filing so as to assess whether it is a patent or an utility model. For this purpose, our technical department will analyze the invention to clarify its classification.

The Utility Model has a legal life of 10 years as opposed to patents that have a 20 year-life. Another of the basic differences of utility models is that the required novelty is national and does not request the State of the Art Report, which decreases the costs.
